About Us
Ask an Expert is a global learning initiative from Arizona State University’s Learning Enterprise that brings real scientists and scholars directly to learners everywhere. The program began in 1997 with a single Ask A Biologist question page, but it has expanded into an offering of hundreds of learning tools. We expanded the model to create Ask An Anthropologist (2016) and Ask An Earth and Space Scientist (2019), with more disciplines on the way.
But Ask an Expert is more than a place to get answers. It’s a growing collection of engaging, classroom-ready learning experiences, from online games and VR tours to career-focused stories all designed to spark curiosity and deepen understanding. These tools are built by experts, shaped by real questions, and created to make learning meaningful both in and beyond the classroom.
Today, Ask an Expert reaches over 400 million learners every year and has been used in every country in the world. Ask a Biologist alone offers content in 24 languages, helping make high-quality science education accessible across cultures and communities.
By combining expert insight with creative learning tools, Ask an Expert empowers the next generation of thinkers, problem-solvers, and explorers... wherever they are.
